Metabots are GO!
Picked up this robot model kit at the MoMA store in NYC. This thing comes together without any glue or cutting needed.
I felt like the biggest geek ever putting this together but it was well worth it... looks Damn DOPE! I just love the japanese Mecha look! Apparently there are a couple of other robot models available too but I am yet unable to track em down. Somehow Google is totally letting me down on this one. Anyone knows more than me?
There is just not enough hotness for us geeks out there. Looks like our prayers have been answered. Looks like Suicide Girls with the right references... love it!
I guess every Hypebeast knows about the Nowhere Popup store in Dover Street Market. The Nigonizzer came down to reward all his committed Apesoldiers with his official Ape General signature.
Now... Fanboys is somekind of a geek legend... like that rare Boba Fett toy that can fire missiles. Especially if you are a devoted reader of aintitcool.com or a Star Wars geek (or most likely both) than you know about the battles that were fought over the storyline of this movie that locked this flick in development hell for years and years with the odd post about it popping up on various geek blogs.
Set in 1998, the story tells of a group of friends who, anxious for the premiere of Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace, decide to break into Skywalker Ranch and steal an early print of the film. The reason: One of them is suffering from cancer and wishes to see the film before his death. There was a lot of bruharhar about the removal of that cancer storyline in favor to make the movie more of a pisstake than a hommage to SW fans. Anyone interested can check the whole backstory at starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Fanboys.
For me the biggest question was: Will I give a damn about a movie that's about a movie that SUCKED and was the beginning of the end of the cooles Sci Fi trilogy ever?
Now this trailer hit the web and I must say: It looks damn funny. It resonates with me, being an Ex Star Wars geek. It can still be crap but at the trailer made me chuckle. So I do have A Last Hope something related to Star Wars isn't just a lame pointless cash in... and I might actually enjoy it! I just pray George Lucas wasn't involved in the script...
Ahahaha... sweet! Now this is Hip Hop Bling I would rock if I would rock Hip Hop Bling... Beethoven mofoz!!! Now bring on Mozart allover print hoodies and Chopin New Era caps... *BRRRAP*
I like what I see so far... ahhh... this book will show the Haterz why BAPE was the hottest shit on the block! I say "was" as the recent exposure killed the secret underground appeal BAPE used to have for many headz, which is a shame. Personally I can't wait for the book to drop...
Still London BAPE soldiers can look forward to a London Edition of the book in the special red and blue UK Camo and maybe even an appearance by the Nigmeister himself. Let's keep those paws crossed!
Talking about how far things evolved in the game... or retarded. Depending on your viewpoint. I must say I am still a fan of Mr. Donnelly although he is rinsing his crossed out eyes formula to the chomping max ( see KAWS recent Walk the line exhibit in Miami ). But then again, with a shop in Tokyo, collabos with Marc Jacobs and collectors like Nigo and Pharrell... who is complaining? This metal KAWS head is taking the piss a little tho. Talking about getting big headed!
When his head appaered with the BxH collabo I though it was a nice fun touch. But this thing is blowing things out of proportion... LITERALLY. I wonder who will buy this... as I guess this piece is even too much for his regular collectors. But I might be wrong...
Every time I try to kick the toy habit something amazing crosses my path and sucks me right back in. Like these damn fresh Coca Cola Bots... pure genius!!!
I found out on further investigation that they even have their own TV show! Now how good is THAT...
I just quickly want to express my deep love for Deee-Lite, the deelovely one hit wonder from the nineties. I must be one of the few people on this planet who own all records and followed their heavily under appreciated sampladelic exploids through four albums. Groove is in the heart might have been the biggie but don't sleep on the other tracks they released during their short career.
The mashed up sounds, great cover artwork and fucked up outfits still damn ROCK! Plus, Towa Tei was their Jungle DJ... I rest my case! I like to conduct a fax orgy right now pleeeeze!
